Akatsuki Secret

Two best friends from a forest in Fire Country wanted to make a ninja village. They are Madara Uchiha and Hashirama Senju. So they made a ninja village called Konohagakure. Unfortunately, Madara and Senju dissent. Madara wants Konoha to be a place for talented ninjas, so other villages pay for the protection of Konoha. But, Senju wants Konoha to protect other people like family, without paying. This cause them to fight. Madar loses. So Konoha is led by Senju, the first Hokage (Shodai Hokage). Madara fled. He made a ninja organization called Akatsuki.

Madara never show his face to other Akatsuki members. Reputedly, Madara can't die. To make Akatsuki powerful, they have to hunt chakra owned by tailed monsters or Bijuu. Bijuu lives in the body of a certain ninja. Because of that, Akatsuki attempted to kidnap Gaara and Naruto.
